The transformation of neglected, swampy land with wild landfills in Visoko (Bosnia-Herzegovina) into the most beautiful and comprehensive park in the south of Europe has been going on for almost ten years.
The great team of the ‘Archaeological Park: Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun’ Foundation has created an exciting archaeological park with five discovered entrances to prehistoric underground tunnels. Also a sports park with top tennis courts and an auditorium for 2,000 visitors that was opened by the world's best tennis player Novak Djokovic in July 2022, then a beach volleyball and basketball court that hosted international tournaments.
Park ‘Ravne 2’ has become a cultural oasis of Hum (the Balkans) with numerous festivals, fairs, concerts, book promotions, theater performances, yoga sessions and walking meditations in the labyrinths of love, energy, purification and health, tango, salsa and folklore festivals and numerous workshops.
It is increasingly becoming the largest open art gallery space. Namely, the Foundation connected with the best sculptors from Bosnia-Herzegovina from the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Sarajevo, supporting neglected art and culture.
Only in the past few months, the Park has become richer for the original, unique stećak, a gable on a pedestal, weighing 10 tons. Dr. Adis Ellias Fejzić carved cosmic symbols, which are normally found on the stećak phenomenon, giving it his creative stamp and creating a true masterpiece of modern sculpture.
The Illyrian Queen Teuta, who ruled 2,250 years ago, got her own pavilion, and her original statue is the work of Master of Sculpture Damir Šabić. Right next to it is the pavilion with King Stefan (Steven) Tvrtko Kotromanić, the work of Professor Darko Šobot. Professors and students from the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Sarajevo are the authors of “Flying Pyramids with a Heart”.
This year, the Alley of busts of immortal poets of love poetry was opened: Tagore (India), Rumi (Persia), Neruda (Chile), Lorca (Spain), Yesenin (Russia) and Edgar Allan Poe (USA). Our brilliant mind, Nikola Tesla, got his own pavilion and ‘Tesla Square’, and the extraordinary statue was made by master of sculpture Damir Šabić.
Previously, a ‘Geopuncture Circle’ was set up in the Park, the creators of which were fourteen sculptors from six countries (USA, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia) headed by the UNESCO ambassador, sculptor Marko Pogačnik. The ‘Green Crystal Pyramid’ bears the symbolism of Peace, Love, Joy and Cosmic Unity, and on the floor of the room the Chinese energy symbolism of ‘Bagua’ according to the life philosophy of Feng Shui. Slovenian artist Vesna Neferamis is the author of the statue ‘She’, which is a symbol of female energy. Twenty-four columns with painted motifs of mysterious archaeological sites on six continents make up the ‘Time Plane’ installation.
The plans for 2024 are very ambitious. The construction of five Bosnian villas (Gorska, Villa, Bosanska Villa, Crvena Villa, Kraljica Villa Zlatna, Villa Planinka) was agreed, which will find their home in the ‘Magic Forest’ of the Park, then a pavilion with replicas of statues found in prehistoric Vinča and busts of our poets ( Miroslav Krleža, France Prešeren, Petar Petrović Njegoš, Meša Selimović, Ivo Andrić, Aleksa Šantić, Desanka Maksimović, Mak Dizdar) and our giants of scientific thought (Ruđer Bošković, Vladimir Prelog, Lavoslav Ružička, Mihajlo Pupin, Milutin Milanković, Jožef Štefan, Muris Osmanagić, Mileva Marić Einstein).
The park had 10,000 visits in 2016, and a record number of 200,000 visitors is expected in 2023, making it the most visited tourist destination in central BiH. Entrance to the Park, parking lots, toilets, installations and all programs are free for visitors. In the last two years, there were more than 100 elementary schools in the park who spent the whole day there.
The owners of the park, Dr. Semir Osmanagić and Sabina Osmanagić, donated the Park to the Foundation, which maintains it and invests in its contents, providing them for free use by the local community and tourists from all over the world.
